Cable Tech and Cable Installation Training

On completing this 4-weeks training, delegates will gain knowledge and understanding of:

  • TRAP Installation in DROP to filter frequencies and allow DATA channels only
  • Good understanding of the Tap-Ground Block-Attic-Outlet concept
  • Good understanding of Transmission and Return calculations for Drops, Splitters, and Cable
  • Frequency and Cable Modem measurements of Docsis and Video Channels on Meter
  • Installation and Configuration of TIVOs, MINIs, MTAs, HDTs, HDs, MODEMs and ROUTERs
  • Understanding and Implementation of Video Networking at customer premise using MOCA
  • Installation of New Altice One box for Data, MTA, Video
  • Configuration and Installation numerous CPEs from varying vendors and manufacturers
  • Working with Dispatch Team on job by job basis
  • Assigning/Adding equipment to job on APP Inventory
  • Fault Reporting and Escalation using Demand Maintenance Request
  • RG6, CAT5, and CAT3 Cable Crimping and Termination for Video, Data and Voice
  • New line cabling for Residential premises from TAP, DROP, Splitters, CPE to Devices
  • Routine works involving House Box, Grounding, Tags/Labels, Adding Equipment
  • Mastery of I&R Telecom App for Starting, Closing, and Managing Jobs and Equipment
  • Full responsibility for assigned Spectrum truck and tools, with clean driving record
  • Integration and commissioning of at least 15 Video, Data and Voice equipment weekly
  • Liaising with Spectrum Technical Unit to troubleshoot and resolve Installation issues on field
  • Documentation of completed jobs, equipment used, equipment retrieved, modifications
